BIOGRAPHY
Chekira are young and exceallerating punk outfit from Peterborough.
The young four piece consists of 17 year olds, Andy Jackson (guitar/vocals),
Rob Baynton (guitar), bassist Scott McEwan and drummer Simon Hodgson.
Chekira was formed in Autumn '98 and, since then, the lads have
been busy playing every pub and club.
A string of widely acclaimed performances, along with the release
of three well received disks has helped establish Chekira as the
finest band to spring from their region to date. The recent 3-track
CD, entitled "The Number 1 Best-sellouts", sold over 100 copies
in its opening month and received airplay on local commercial radio.
With each individual tune different from the next, it's no wonder
that Chekira create such a diverse and emphatic sound.
Toying with mighty guitars, killer melodies and harmonies all round,
the band unleash three tracks of considerable style and maturity.
The Chekira sound has developed . Both live and on tape, the band
convey a genuine ability to mix the childish effervescence of bands
such as NOFX, Wildhearts and Less Than Jake - adding their own spin
and in an exciting and very listenable new form."
